Hey All!! What do you think of my new setup? I really wanted to have my ride cymal over the bass drum like in a 4 piece setup but I didn't want to lose my 10" tom because I really love how it sounds!!
I also just purchased a new splash. Its an 8" AA Sabian. It sounds pretty good!!
Here's some pics!!

You've got a nice kit there
Cymbal set up is similar to mine although mine are all Zildjian (apart from my Wuhan China)
The only advice i would give is to make the angle on your tom toms alot LESS.
When i started out i thought an angle is great, speed etc, but it doesn't give a clean sound. If you raise your drum stool slightly and have your toms relatively flat, you get a fantastic sound and also don't loose any of your speed.
Thats my advice anyway! |

I used to play a setup just like that and it's rather comfortable (the only difference now is the 12 and 14 are used like floor toms). Yours looks just a bit nicer than mine, what with the glossy fade and all, and I don't think the tom angles are too bad, actually. I to a good point disagree with the "all toms must be flat" crowd; as long as the angles are reasonable and comfortable, then it's not an issue. _________________ So with that title, do I Godwin every thread now?

Nice kit...
I set mine up like that for a while, it worked for what I was doing, now I've gone back a standard 5 piece setup (after I played 6 piece)
Ohh, with the whole tom angle thing. Set you stool to comfortable height first, then see at what angle your sticks are going to hit the drum. Your toms should be angled down a little more that parallel with the stick. This will give the clearest sound and the most comfort for you (especially your back!!!)
ENJOY! |

You have almost exactly the cymbals I want. Much envy. _________________ If you don't like it, you can just *Golly Gee* off! - Keith Moon's last words

| Yeah I love my cymbals!!! They are awesome. The 14" and 16" AAX Studio crashes are sweet!!! I would recommend them for sure!! The 20"AAX studio ride is great as well!! |

You set your kit up similar to me, with the offset toms. I find it keeps the top half of my body better aligned with my feet. _________________ - Sabian endorser since 1997 -

That "offset" setup is actually very ergonomic. The kit looks good like that, and easy to play.
I can't stand that mentality that dictates "toms must be ruler flat." I find that extremely uncomfortable. They aren't congas for cryin out loud.
The offset setup you have puts the ride in an optimal place.
As to the tom angles: play them where they are comfortable for YOU, not other people. |

Drum Power in Melbourne do them for about $1500 for a 5-piece. _________________ 'Because it is sometimes so unbelievable the truth escapes becoming known.' - Heracleitus (ca. 500 B.C.) |
