Sorry to resurrect this old topic but I'm looking for suggestions concerning what heads to mount on my Oak Customs.

I'm looking for a deep, meaty sound that retains the oak's natural tone. Neither clear nor coated EC1s have done the trick (the clears worked wonders on my maple Tamburo kit). Same goes for Ambassadors, Emperors, Powerstrokes and G2s. Pinstripes and Evans Hydraulics I won't even consider - they simply kill the drum's tone.

Any ideas? Thanks Very Happy
