Hi. When im not practicing with the band I usually enjoy playing the drums to songs from my ipod. I was wondering if ne of you guys know what kinda headphones with the best value r the best for this. If u go to bestbuy.com and look at the Sony Studio Monitor series headphones, dats whut i got. it works ok but when i play it makes the drums sound weird to my ear. Am i being too much of a *Poke with a Needle*? Whut kinda headphones work fpr u guys?

I just use earbuds, with those earmuff type things they use for shooting and whatnot over the buds. this way, i don't have to turn the tunes up insanely loud, and everthing is relatively quiet.

I would suggest looking at ones that are "open backed" rather than closed. Normally people prefer closed back becuase they isolate the sound better but in your case, you still want the good sound from the headphones, but don't wnat to isolate yourself from the world.

If you want to dish out $80 for headphones but still get $300+ quality, buy grado SR80s. I got mine on ebay for $113 CDN. They are amazing, the frequency range is normal (20-20) but they are HELLA CLEAR, no distortion, I've beat mine to $hit with bass tests etc for over 2 years and aside from needing to solder one of the wires back together because of 'backpack-abuse', they're great. They can be uncomfortable, but the quality is worth the pain. Once you hear true audiophile headphones you won't be buying anything of lesser quality ever again. Anything else just sounds muddy and distorted to me now. *Holy Censor, Batman*! The SR80 is an upgrade from the SR60, it has better bass response. The SR125s only have better high's. The only drawback to these headphones is that they are an open-air design and can annoy people around you.

I have directsound extreme isolation headphones. They're closed back so they DO isolate the sound from your drums quite a bit.. but that just means that by the time you're 35 you'll be able to hear your kids speak to you _________________ --------------
