Wow... intro post section. I think I'm too used to the big forums that bite newbies heads off for trying to post intro posts
I'm 24 and pretty new to the drumming world. I've been playing guitar off and on for a long *Horse's Patoot* time (10 years now) and currently in one of the not playing phases. However, that has been replaced by drumming
I currently have a Yamaha DTXpress III and have already posted a few times here down in the electronic drums section. I plan on one day getting an acoustic set too.
Oh yeah, the konnichiwa is because I'm living in Okinawa, Japan... I'm a white boy from the States though.
Btw, I think of myself a metalhead for the most part but I demand for the vocalists to actually be intelligible, which bars me from liking alot of metal |

You're a Marine, perhaps?
Welcome to Drum Dogs. Enjoy the site. Lots of good info here for beginning drummers. |

Air Force, actually. Thanks for the welcome
Hm, I take it swearing isn't allowed? I guess I used a naughty word and it turns it into horses patoot. Would that have been automatic or would a mod have done that? I just don't want to accidentally break any rules here
I have been taking a peak around and yeah, there is alot of information. That's why I signed up... should be a good learning place. |

Hey! and welcome to drumdogs
about that cursing thing, its no big deal (well, it might be)
Dont worry about it being a major thing, a mod didnt edit it.
Theres a HUGE list of "bad words" that are automaticly set so when you post it, it changes to somthing else
for example, when you type "as$", it goes to *Horse's Patoot*
same with dam n and *Holy Censor, Batman*
some of them are pretty funny, and after youve been on the board for a while, you will recognize "holy censor, batman!" so well, that if sombody said it in real life, you would automaticly react to the word "dam"
Actualy, (i hapend to not be on the boards this day... bad mistake)
but a few april fools ago, the admin censored pretty much ALL the words, to funny stuff
like when you typed in "Drum", it would sensor to "Casio Keyboard"
i dont know of any others he did, but i heard it was pretty funny. of course, he changed it back to normal the next day. but anyways...
Youl probly find that your 10 years of musical experience would greatly help you with your drumming. My middle school band directer told me that some of the best drummers he knew also played another instrument
anyways, i think i may have said a little to much, but again, welcome to drumdogs and have fun here
everyone that comes here learns tons of information, that has helped them a lot
basicly its like school, but its fun, and optional, and you get to pick your own hours, and you get to sit next to all of your friends _________________

Thanks for the info and another welcome
I do find my already knowing guitar has helped me out from both the fact that I already know how to keep time and I can read music (although not too hot). It's the whole setting the tempo on the ride, setting the beat with my foot, and then setting another beat with my other hand to create the full beat that's throwing me... my coordination is the crap. |

konnichiwa, I know that word from a french movie, Taxi.
It's a trilogy actually.
Another welcome from me, you seem like a very nice person.
How's life that far from home? No girls, friends and family you're missing?
I think it's a wonderfull experience, spending some time in a whole different country, whole different habits, religion, culture, language,...
take care!

Thanks for the welcome!
Actually, Okinawa isn't a remote tour... so people can have their families here. My wife just happens to also be in the military too, though. So, no missing anyone for me... well, except the rest of my family back in the States.
But anywho, yeah, I love it here _________________ AeonScape MySpace Music

Ah! Lovely Japan. I have family that resides there as well. A country of great people and great smiles...so long as you're not a woman and showing teeth while you smile. Please, feel free to use this website for many hours of self-indulged release from the military work lifestyle. _________________
