Hello all, It's been awhile since I got into these drum forums and chit chatted. I figured it was about time to stop ignoring my fellow brethren and get back in the saddle.
I'm about to turn 38 and still enjoy rockin out on my kit. Their's nothing like it!! I've been around awhile drum wise and have pictures of me in a diaper at like 2 setting behind an old ludwig kit, (my brothers old southpaw setup). I don't have top notch equipment, (well, mainly the kit anyway) but it's a respectable setup:
White Taye Rock Pro Fusion kit (Birch/Basswood 7 piece)
20" x 16" Kick
14" x 5.5" wood snare
Toms: (all rack mount)
8" x 8" / 10"x 8.5" / 12" x 9" / 14" x 11" / 16" x 13"
Cymbals:
Zildjian 20" K custom ride (This thing is like 25 years old with a 2 inch bell crack, it keeps on rockin' day after day!)
Zildjian 16" and 17" crashes
Zildjian 6" and 8" A custom splashes
Zildjian 20" lowboy china
Wuhan 12" China's (x2)
Wuhan 12" Splash (best sounding splash I've ever heard, beautiful wash)
Sabian 13" AA hi-hats (primary)
Camber 14" hi-hats (secondary on a Gibralter remote mount, I know, Camber ewww...)
And my own funky creation, an ugly stained old Paiste 14" h-hat bottom with an array of 5 rivets (3/8" steel) on a stand. It makes for an interesting little sizzler.
Hardware:
Mostly Tama with 3 Taye stands
Taye hi-hat stand (which is a sad peice of equipment Grrr)
Pearl Eliminator 2002 belt double pedals w/ quadbeaters
Pearl Roadster cutaway throne
Heads:
Aquarian Performance II heads around the toms (except for the 8", it has a 2 ply projector with an offset powerdot)
Aquarian satin finished on the snare
Taye kick head (again...crap, gettin an Aquarian there too)
Anyway, I'm shopping for new goodies and looking for opinions since i can't seem to make up my own mind. I'll be poppin up questions here and there in the next little bit and I hope some of you are gracious enough to take the time to give me some input, it will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
The new guy |
