Ok whoever plans on getting a professional quality drum set at a good price, GET THIS SET!!! It is amazing. I have been drumming for 3 years and have played some good sets. this is better than any set I have ever played. The bass is amazing, the snare is awesome, and the toms are great. And thats with the stock heads. The shells are made out of a combination of birch, mahogany, and some other wood, but they sound great. I have never played a maple set so therefore I cannot compare to those, but this set is unbelieveable for the price. Yamaha is great. Laughing

I have one and it is good but you don't have all of your facts straight and I don't believe you have an ear developed enough to tell someone not to get better drums. It just has an outer ply of birch for looks, its only 1 of 7 plies. and then thats not true mahogany, its luan, which is not one of the really nice tone woods for drums. Then it also has some falkata in it which I've never even heard of someone else using.

Certainly not a professional quality set, more like a professionals kit that they would take to a dive bar because they don't want their good set to get ruined.

Not saying that its a bad set because its not, its a great intermediate set. But it is not even close to a higher line of drums.

I have a Yamaha Stage Custom Advantage Nouveaux, I don't yet have a developed ear to be able to compare my kit to the top kits but I am very happy with my kit now. I changed the heads to use Evans EC2s for the toms, an EMAD on the bass and a remo powerstroke 3 for the snare and things sound great Smile

I am a beginner (only been playing since July-ish) and hopefully as time goes on I will develop an ear for things but for my first kit I am very pleased with the choice I made.

Gee punkrocker way to be an A hole. I was just telling everyone that this is a good quality set. And my ear is fine and i guess my music teacher that has been playing for a really long time has a bad ear too hah? I never said this is the best set ever. I said that it is the best I've played and the next best that I've played to these was the pearl exr set.

He's not being an "A hole", but just giving out the facts, himself also being an owner of the kit. A kit made out of Phillipine Luan just isn't a "Pro" kit. It's a cheaper wood that you can make a good priced student kit, but it's just not... Pro... kit.

i've got the advantage nouveau kit. With some love it can sound pretty damned good... Better than most kits in its pricepoint. But there's no question that there are FAR better sounding drums out there.

I'm happy with it for now, but the second i have a few thousand to drop it'll be come my practice kit.

Yeah man you are trying to make it sound like its one of the greatest kits ever, and its not. I'm not trying to be an *Horse's Patoot*, as I said its a decent kit as I own one myself. But to put it at the same level as yamaha absolutes or pearl masterworks... that is when I get annoyed.

hey i consider myself a good, played in a few bands local that is, and i'm thinking of buying a stage custom advantage fusion set and i'm wondering if anyone has an opion on it. thanks!

I'd personaly skip the combo woods and go for all birch or all maple, especially since you've been in a few bands and are gigging out. I know for maple kits you can pick up the Pacific CX, Mapex Pro M, or Sonor Force 3005 for prices right around the Stage Custom range. And if you like birch better, it'll be cheeper.

The CX is actually priced a little lower than what you'll find the Sonor Force 3005 and Pro M to be. If you go for the LX instead of the CX, you get their toughest HW with it but it makes it cost a little more than Mapex's Pro M and Sonor's Force 3005.

If you look down in the sell/trade section on the bottom of these forums, Styles is actually selling an LX for a gooood price.

i have the fusion stage cusom and i am really impressed! i have had it for under a year and i agree that with a bit of love its amazing Smile

a friend of my dad who has been playing for like 20+ years said its really nice sound like for an intermediate kit and bang for buck so to speak but as far as professional... not really but definatly a kit to keep for years to come Smile
