should i buy a double pedal/which snare head

hi, i'm going to be heading to college in a few months and i was wondering if buying a double pedal would be worth the money at this point. should i buy an inexpensive one since i'm not sure if i'll stick with it? i know that i am allowed to bring my set and my guitars to college so i know that i will play my instruments fairly frequently.

a friend of mine has a gibraltar double pedal but i really don't like the feel of it...he paid 250$ for it and i know that he paid more than he should have. he's loosened the spring tensions to the point that the pedals are hard to control. i have a pearl set and ive been using the pearl pedal that came with it...so...i'm used to the feel of it. should i buy a pearl double since i don't want to pay too much for it?

as for the head, my snare needs a new head (i got the set for christmas and it needs new heads)..the toms aren't too bad yet, but i need a new snare head...what would everyone recommend? i like a full, deep snare sound for alternative/rock. i was thinking maybe a coated aquarian? or should i go with a remo or evans?

I would start with a cheap, decent pedal on ebay, especially since you're not sure if you want to stick with it. I'll tell you now it's a lot of time to get okay at double, for some reason when I first bought it I thought I could sit down and play some Atreyu decently. And brand doesn't really matter, they're all adjustable to some extent.

As for the snare, Aquarian Texture Coated with Power Dot.

I really want a double pedal. The pdp double pedal is only 100$ and is really good quality. As for the head. Evans G2 coated

hey i ended up buying a pearl eliminator P-2002C pedal. it was a "blem" from Musician's Friend but it was 191.24$

i received it today and there was absolutely nothing wrong with it. it came in the original box with the carrying case (much better than an IC plastic one) and the parts were still in their original plastic wrappings. the boxes of cams hadn't even had the tape removed from the ends. more than likely, it was just a return that someone realized they didn't want or bought the wrong item b/c there's no cosmetic or other issue w/ it at all...not even a scratch that i could see.

the "blem" pdp double that you were talking about (edgewood_drummer92) is actually on clearance as well right now for 76.49$. pdp dp402 "blem" from M.F. (it was still under the sale as of March 7th in the evening...the sale is supposed to end on the 13th but some items sell out so it may not be listed that long)

as for the snare head, i bought an aquarian texture coated head w/ power dot and i'm very happy with it. it gave me the sound that i wanted. thanks MagicMedicine204.

the eliminators are supposed to be amazing pedals, i was bouncing back and forth between those and the cobras a few weeks ago. good choice, have fun with it.

Even better pedal. I havent heard the sound of the head your talking about though... o well i need a new snare head anyways, so ill check it out.

I would recommend looking at Dixon double pedals. They are cheap and have an amazing feel. If you don't like it, they have a decent resale value so you can get some money back out of it. If you really want to go crazy take a look at Duallist pedals. They have single, double, twin effect, and even a triple pedal. The only downfall is the price. (The triple pedal is about $600) Crying or Very sad
