|
|
I use extreme 5a vic firths and they work perfectly for me. However, it's now starting to heat up and it's very humid up here (i live in Washington State). My drumsticks keep on slipping now at my thumbs and im fed up with blisters..... I could use electrical tape and ive done that before, but i want to know if anyone has any other suggestions.

| I find that gripping them works rather well. |

try it out, it's gotten pretty good reviews.
also check out gorillia snot if that dosn't work, same idea, but it's more glue-ish feeling. it worked but it left this nasty buildup. |

I would go for Vater stick and finger tape, as its the least expensive. Plus, it isn't as tricky to apply as the wax. Or, if all else fails, get a pair of drumming gloves, i'd suggest an Ahead pair. _________________

| you can use hockey tape or sometimes I bang the part Im holding on the rim of the snare and the little indentations made help with grip. |

since my last post i've been working on my technique with this guy and i very rarely drop sticks now. it has a lot to do with how you hold the stick and how you hit the drum.
for the drops that happen, i've got a little two stick holder mounted on my hi-hat. works great because it keeps the sticks separated so you can grab one really quick and easy. _________________ Pacific MX

I've experienced a simular progression. I think he is referring to slippage due to heat/moisture/sweat rather then improper technique. |

I use the gauze tape that tennis players use to augment the grip on their tennis rackets. For about $3, you can wrap 3-4 pairs of sticks. The more moisture, the better the grip (to a point). Be careful though, you can get blisters if not careful.

| As another poster suggested take some sandpaper and remove the coating down to bare wood. The raw wood will absorb the sweat. No friction means no blisters.Or just find some natural sticks you feel comfortable with. |
