|
|
I'm frustrated with how everything DOESN'T fit when I try to incorporate my double bass drum pedal. having the hi-hat, DB, snare, and I also have a cymbal stand there, all conflicts. It becomes a jumbled mess and I just don't play as well.
how do you guys set up your kit to make it all fit? what kind of snare stand do you use?
does your hi-hat and doublebass pedal touch? |

I would like to have both pedals touching, but the slave-pedal chain rubs against the hi-hat leg (even at full turn). This means I have to put my hi-hat way to the left, so the hi-hat leg is to the left of the slave-pedals' chain.
The advantage of this is that you can have your slave-pedal in the perfect position, you just have to reach a little further to hit/press the hi-hat.... _________________

well another problem I ran into was getting my snare and slave pedal to coexist in a friendly manor.
I could see how this could be an opportunity for a cable-driven hi-hat though. So I could keep the hi hat cymabls where I want them, but move the pedal a bit. |

I don't really see how you could have a problem between the snare and the pedal, how close to each other do you want them? If all else fails, minmise the angle of the snare legs, just hope it doesn't fall.... _________________

| it's not the pedal, but the link between the pedals that's hitting my snare stand. |

Ahh, i see. Have you tried a bigger snare stand leg angle, then the bar can go over it, hopefully. I suppose this is another advangtage to dual bass drums... _________________

| Yeah I have it spread out as much as possible trying to get the legs under it. |

I have a double bass pedal and sure, it's cramped putting the snare between the pedals but everything fits. I don't have any issues either sitting the hi-hat foot pedal right next to my left double bass pedal either. I think you just need to spend more time playing with the positioning of everything. It took a bit, adjusting things several times, to find the optimal setup. _________________ AeonScape MySpace Music

When I got my doublefoot pedal, I just extended the slave pedal as far as it could go while still working perfectly. Then I just moved my hihat stand right next to it and did the swivel foot thing all the way over so the two pedals are very close, but still not touching anything. Then I secured it with massive amounts of duct-tape and adjusted the rest of my set. The snare stand's legs easily fit between my throne and the connecting rod of the slave pedal. If that doesn't work for you, just play around with it. _________________

Well pretty much every double pedal I've seen or used can be extended out by adjusting the driveshaft...
Another idea I had involves your hihat stand-a friend of mine uses a Tama stand (the pedal is that of the Iron Cobra Jr.) and the legs are rotatable, so he's got the left leg all the way to the left side of the pedal, so it leaves plenty of room for the slave pedal to sit literally an inch from the hihat pedal. Just an idea, I don't know what kind of gear you got. |
