Hey everyone i need some help deciding which snare drum i should buy. I've got about £300 ($590) to spend so i want one that will last. I play rock/heavy metal so i want something loud lol. I'm pretty sure that all you guys in the US are pretty lucky because everything i've seen on musicians friend is a lot cheaper than i can get it in the UK. So any suggestions would be very appreciated. Thanks, Luke _________________ "My Homer is not a communist. He may be a liar, a pig, an idiot, a communist, but he is not a porn star." |

Luke.
Look at only1music.co.uk
If you're willing to stretch your budget by 50 or so quid, you can get a Pearl Masters MMX 6.5 inch deep snare.
I bought one myself when they had a major sale. It's loud and responsive - a beautiful snare drum.

Above is just one of the one's they've got going - or call them to discuss.
Unfortunately i'm in Essex, so going down to the cardiff store would be a a*s, but they're great on the phone, and delivery is always 7 quid. |

The perfect snare for you is the one Mapex just released -- the Black Panther Solid Steel. This thing is an animal. I'm not sure if it's available in the UK, but I hope so.

| Dude you should so get the freakin DW Acoustic EQ Snare! Its 600 but i msure you can talk em down a bit depending on where you buy from. Go to DWDrums.com and they have a video of it at the bottom of the page its crazy! You can get a tight crack out of it or you can open the vents and get a low boomy sound! check it out! |
