What differences will I hear in a side-by-side comparison? This was a discussion at a gig, but at 3am, it was all drunken bravado, and no clear points were made. _________________ Everybody's got a price. No shame, it's all a game, just ask it nice. |

| Diameter is the biggest factor in determining pitch. The 26" drum will be lower in pitch, regardless of the differences in depth. Depth has more to do with how punchy a drum is, and how long the decay is. A shorter drum will have more articulation and be less "boomy." However, deeper drums have more projected volume for the simple reason that there is more shell material there to vibrate and, thus, resonate. |

The 20x20 will go boooooooooom and the 26x14 will go WHAM.

Or, you could put it that way. |

canyon! haha.. I don't even know if that was a typo!
a 32x30 would probly be too big to be effectively played. The bigger the drum the more force required to create a full, resonant tone. So you'd pretty much have to be an NFL linebacker to have the leg power to make a 32x30 sound decent. _________________ --------------

| well i mean u know with all this Technical tehnology with the light pedals and a large light weight beater u know u dont have to apply much force to it but what im saying u wont play it for a full song..just to give the song a lil BOOM for a BIg BOOM to it...then u would play a 26' for the song..just a lil taste...i would love to have one of those though i know it would be like...bigger than me when i hit on the drums lol im only 5'3 |

I think I'd find myself more annoyed at the 26X14 when it came time to load it into the car. _________________ "To recap, we've learned that Billy Cobham practices on water and Thomas Lang walks on it...I might have to bring this information to the local seminary to get their opinion..."
