After almost 25 years of not playing ( I'm 45) and playing for the last 3 on a Yamaha DTX III and a Roland ( at church) I started to get that "its time to get an accoustic kit " feeling becasue the electronics were great BUT as you all know its just not the same.
So about a year ago I started doing some research here and as fate would have it this past easter my church rented a DW custom for me to play and after the first kick BOOOOM and snare POP you couldnt wipe the smile off my face.....I knew then what had to be done...
I went out and test drove kits, cymbals, hardware etc, as well as reading alot of the posts here and as of 2 weeks ago I am a proud owner of a :
2005 PDP LX kurillian birch over maple natural to tobacco
22x18, 10x8, 12x10, 14x12, 16x14 , 5.5 x 14 matching snare
Zildjian A Custom medium 20" ride
Zildjian A Custom 18" china
Zildjian A Custom 18" crash
Zildjian A custom 14" mastersound hats
Sabian HHX evolution 16", 17" & 18" crashes
Sabian Portnoy 7" & 11" splashes
Pearl S2000 snare stand
DW 9700 Stand ( 5 ea)
DW 5000 series 2 leg hat stand
DW 5002 AD3 double kick
DW 4100 throne
I will soon be replacing the skins to EMAD for the kick and probably the Evans EC1 coated as I put one on the 10" tom and just love the sound .
I want to thank all you guys for the inspiration and good info and advice you provide here, even when you guys are bagging on someone for asking a question that has been asked 100 times or dont give enough info for you to give any sound advice.
