I had not played drums for just over 25 years (45 years old ) and then 3 years ago I got a Yamaha DTX III and in the last year decided it was time to get an accoustic kit, I spent alot of time here doing some research and checking out just about every topic.

I got to play a DW custom in April and since then have been on a mission to test drive drums, cymbals, hardware etc.

3 weeks ago I became a PDP LX natural to tobacco, kurillian birch over maple 2005 kit owner and could not be happier.

22x18, 10x8, 12x10, 14x12, 16x14, 5.5 x 14 matching snare
Zildjian A Custom 20" med ride, A custom 18" china, A custom 18" crash,
A custom 14" mastersound hats

Sabian HHX Evolution 16", 17" , 18" crashes Portnoy 7" & 11" splashes
DW 9700 stand ( 5ea )
DW 5002 AD3 Dbl Kick
DW 5000 2 leg hat stand
DW 4100 throne

Pearl S2000 snare stand

I will be changing the batter heads on the toms to Evans EC1 coated and the resonance will be the stock clears. ( I have done this to the 10" and it sounds great ) and an EMAD for the kick.

This place really made the learning curve much easier on what order of importance to place in deciding on a kit for someone who has been out of the loop for awhile. So thanks and I am looking forward to being a part of this fourm.
