Hey i was wondering if any of you guys know any good books to start leaning jazz. Ive really been wanting to learn so freakin bad you have no idea! I really need more than one book though cause thats how i learn best is by teaching myself. Any help woud be awsome. Thanks guys!

Well, the best thing really is to listen and watch jazz drummers play, maybe on Youtube or something. Or, even look for some video jazz drumming lessons on Youtube. I'm not really sure of any jazz drum books out there though...

A good jazz book is the art of bop drumming, by john riley. and best of all it comes with a cd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if all else fails, go to your local music store, I am sure they will have somehting there and the drum guy will be very knoledgeable about what they have and what will help you.... Good luck

I agree this is the best way to learn any style. Apart from 1 on 1 instruction.

I would suggest starting with the basics: swing

Some artists to check out: Elvin Jones, Max Roach, Art Blakey, Buddy Rich

For more contemporary artists: Bad Plus, Happy Apple

Or simply google jazz drummers and find hundreds more.
