I'm trying to decide what to get with $2000. It might be about a year before I get all the money, but I'm planning ahead. I play mostly rock. I want just a standard 5 piece, preferably maple. For cymbals, I want 14" hihats, 17 and 19 crashs, and a 22" ride. Thanks

grand total: 2175

Don't take my word for any of it. Try to play it before you buy it! I'm not sure if you're new or if you've been around the block, but please make sure you spend money on cymbals... even *Poop* drums can be made to sound decent, but cheap cymbals are cheap cymbals!

It's amazing how easy it is to get these mid-priced sets to sound just like high end sets, and I agree with you about the cymbals. I've been looking at some others, too. Mx, possibly the lx with a basic set of a's, the ludwig accent maple, maybe a force 2007, a tour custom, or maybe even a superstar, although it's not maple.

cool.. you seem to be on the right path. of all those kits I'd reccomend the mapex first, then LX and MX, then Sonors, then tour customs... I've never really liked the superstars or the accents, but that's just me.

Make sure you let us know when you make your decision... and post PICS!

Better have a look at Billy Blast Drums site. Custom made at a price much lower than the big name factory stuff. Keller Maple Shells and designed the way you want them, leaving ya some money to buy some nice cymbals too! You'll be shocked!
