| start with some of the simpler dream theater songs ( misunderstood from the cd "six degrees of inner turbulance" comes to mind. anything from their cd "Train of Thought" is pretty good. |

AC/DC is good practice, the beats are simple, but if you listen, some of the fills are superb, and not overboard.
Def Leppard is great for technical rock drumming - yes Rick Allen has one arm, but he played the others with his feet (Electronic system), will improve you as a player if you can master classic rock artists. |

it's always seemed pointless to play something completely random that you wouldn't otherwise listen to so just play songs and artists that you enjoy. you'll have a lot more fun, and actually get something out of playing. even if your favorite songs don't have crazy cutting edge drum parts, you can still change them up if you really want a challenge. _________________

lol, listen to some blink 182 ansd system if you want some real challenges
but yeah I will normally listen to my favourite stuff which isn't exactly hard, like green day etc, I just add extra fills where they would sound good _________________ ***HOOK IN MOUTH!!!***

try some metallica and iron maiden. Note: iron maiden doesnt play double bass but has fast feet. _________________ "Some days your the pigeon and some days your the statue" |

I always played to Rage Against the Machine records. I think they helped me devlop a solid groove. These days I play to the latest Mute Math record. If that is any help at all. _________________ "God is dead" - Nietzsche

john bonham of zeppelin uses a variety of beats, some simple 4/4 stuff, as well as some blues songs in 6/8. he also has some later songs that have pauses and off-beat stuff. if you can hit his fills, like the triplets, you'll be set, too. _________________ "What is the deal with airplane peanuts?" |
