I got the higher end of pearls hardware instead of the PDP hardware.. I heard that PDP hardware is a little chinsy...what do you think?

From what I understand the only issue with PDP hardware is that the ball clamps for the toms is a little weak. However, the mounds on the PDP and the tom arms Pearl uses are incompatible, so that doesn't quite solve that problem. Tama arms work, as will Gibralter (at least one of the ones that they make).

All the hardware mentioned above is made in the same factory in China. Gotta Love Basix, making kids sick from lead since 1984...
