I've been really wanting to play the drums and my parents said they'd buy me a set...I was wondering if this was a good one.

Bleh, they won't let me post a link...but it's a Pearl Forum FX725 5-Piece Standard Drum Set from Guitar Center for $499.99.

I noticed they don't include the cymbals and I don't know which ones to get. I don't know the difference between crash, ride or whatever else there is...so hopefully one of you guys will be able to help me out.

Thanks!

that would be an alright kit to get, of course you will need to change the heads. other then that, cymbals, basicly what you want to pay. you can get a cheap set, then you will want better ones as you progress. or get an intermediate set, or a pro level set. im talkin about cymbal packs here. I myself have the Zilidjian ZXT pro set, for 300 bucks, they are not bad at all. comes with 14" hats, 16" crash, 20"ride, and mine came with a "free" 16" Zildjian ZHT china, and also a cymbal bag. Ive read the wuhan s-series or somthing like that, is a steal. I have no experiance with them so i cant tell you. One thing to do, is if you got a guitar center near you, or any music store. Go and test the cymbals, see what sound you like. Its all a matter of preferance. You may think they sound good, while someone else doesent. its all a matter of your taste.
