I am positive this has been done before, but I am curious what y'all are playin on.
It is my understanding that when refering to "piece" you count only drums, and not cymbals.
So what kind of set up do you play on? I currently am poundin on a 5 piece. If not specified, it is a PDP mx series.
10" rack tom
14" rack tom
10x5 PDP 805 aluminum picalo snare
14x5 Mapex Pro M snare
22" Bass _________________ A groove is a terrible thing to waste! |

Currently, I'm playing a 5 Piece Mapex Saturn Kit in Electric Blue Sparkle
12"x9" Rack Tom
13"x10" Rack Tom
16"x16" Floor Tom
22"x18" Bass Drum
Pearl Masters Custom (06 Series.. this is a genuine custom, not to be confused with the newer range) MMX 14"x6.5" Snare Drum.
I also have a 10"x8" Rack Tom on 16 week special order, which I'm expecting some time soon as it was ordered late November.
I'm also soon to be chucking in my Masters Custom MMX Snare for a Ludwig SupraPhonic LM402 14"x6.5" (John Bonham Snare). |

Bohnam never used an acrylic snare. It was always the supraphonic. _________________ "You can be smart and happy or you can be stupid and miserable."

I'm playing on a 6 piece Mapex Pro M
Fusion sizes (toms are all hanging):
22x18 bass
10x8 tom
12x9 tom
14x11 tom
16x12 tom
2 snares - only use one at a time, although I usually play with the first:
12x7 maple/walnut Black Panther
14x5.5 Pro M
I like having 4 toms for doing some big fills for most of the stuff that I play, I could most likely get away with only 2 toms. _________________ AeonScape MySpace Music

Cool. Thanks for the replies.
I was curious, because I recently went from a 7 piece to a 5.
Got rid of one rack tom, and one floor tom.
I find the implications really interesting. The manner that you play your drum, and make the relations between drums (in your mind) I've found is different. Which, then helps you to be more creative with what you've got.
Has anyone experienced something simular? _________________ A groove is a terrible thing to waste! |

Correct.
Bonham ALWAYS used a Ludwig Supra Phonic LM402, Chrome over Ludalloy 14"x6.5" Snare Drum. The only thing he ever changed were his snares... and he only did that once, on the last tour. |

Comedy is about timing and being appropriate.
John Bonham was, and always will be a drumming idol for myself.
He was also a dedicated family man who raised a fine family, and brought another great musician into the word.
Alcoholism is common in people that need to escape reality. I imagine that Bonzo just wanted to be a normal guy when he could, not a world famous Rock star.
Joking about one of the most dearly missed human beings in the Rock music industry has not and never will be funny.
Nobody has anything stuck up their backsides. And nobody has anything against you personally.
You're an enthusiastic young man, you just need to learn that what you and your friends find funny in class, generally isn't funny in society. |
