I saw them last night at PNC art center in Holmdel, new jersey
This is my fourth time seeing them over the years and they are one of the few bands from the 80s who I feel really still have it
PNC art center is an outdoor venue with a huge GA open area that I had tickets in but also has an enclosed section up front with seats
Showed up around 6pm and tailgated for awhile then finally went in around 8
At this time the sky opened up with thunder and lightning and terrential downpour
Most of the time when there is a bad thunderstorm it will only last for maybe half an hour or so. This went on all night.
When maiden finally came out it was truly epic with the lightning and thunder
The stage setups and Eddie were mostly all from Powerslave and Seventh Son. They played great
I was mostly stoked to see Rime of the ancient mariner and the clairvoyant
This is the setlist:
Intro. Churchill's Speech
Aces High
2 Minutes to Midnight
Revelations
The Trooper
Wasted Years
The Number of The Beast
Can I Play with Madness
Rime of the Ancient Mariner
Powerslave
Heaven Can Wait
Run to the Hills
Fear of The Dark
Iron Maiden
Moonchild
The Clairvoyant

Ah! Another Jersey person. Good to know.
Unfortunately I'm not a huge maiden fan. _________________ Not for fame or praise

Oooh yeah, they saved the best for last. Hallowed be Thy name is probably my favourite song ever. That is extremely wicked man. _________________ Destruction of The Poor Is Poverty, Destruction of The Soul Is Vanity |

I like playing Maiden songs on the piano. Revelations is really beautiful. Great band (and drummer) Nicko! _________________ "The more control you have of the instrument, the more confidence you will get and the more you will be able to express your ideas; Technique is only good if you can use it musically." -J.M. |

Check out some of their stuff like Infinite Dreams , or Where Eagles dare. Nicko McBrain has really great feel and musicality that alot of metal lacks.

IMO it's as though heavy metal in the modern sense, with blast beats and real fast singles, the drumming usually is very rigid with no feel, just fast and pushy with little creativity and never a pocket or groove.
The classic metal bands (Rainbow, Cozy P., Maiden Nicko) have pocket and creative drummers that classic and represent when heavy metal drumming required patiencde and skill. =) _________________ "The more control you have of the instrument, the more confidence you will get and the more you will be able to express your ideas; Technique is only good if you can use it musically." -J.M. |

eor was dying to see them this time around, but the cure was playing here the same night, and despite my best efforts, nobody wanted to make the drive and i ended up seeing the cure instead. not that it is a bad thing, but the cure played two nights and maiden only did one and i wanted to switch nights.
love,
