|
|
Well I must say it feels awesome to be back on the drums again after my accident and after finally getting my new kit
But while I've been playing I've realised that my 18"AAXPLOSION crash isn't really too good for constant crashin on really... so I'm looking to get a 14",15" or a 16" crash.
Just wondering if you guys could let me know your opinions and which ones you suggest me to have a look at.
At the moment my setup consists of:
8" Sabian Pro sonix splash
12" Paiste 502 splash
14" Sabian AAX stage hats
18" Sabian AAXPLOSION crash
22" Zildjian Z Custom ride
So I'm looking for something that will work well with them and a nice crash sound for a constant hit kind of thing. Also if it helps I tend to play metal/death metal/grindcore/screamo and every now n then hip-hop.
so any help would be great.
Thanks in advance |

| id say go to like a 19 aaxplosion, thats what most pro metal people use for constant crashing, or possibly like a 16 in aaxplosion for constant, or maybe like a metal-x AA sound pretty good for crashing |

really depends what sort of sound you're going for... some people want a quick, defined sound so you can actually hear each crash when you hit the cymbal repetitively, and some want a more washy roar.
if you have an opportunity, go try some cymbals... play them like you would actually play them, and see which one sounds best. it's very likely that you'll find something that isn't at all what you expect you would want (different sizes, models, etc.) _________________

right cheers guys
I went today to try some out, and I must say boy did i have some fun
I tried:
16" AA Metal-x was a nice sounding cymbal, not sure how it will work with mine though.
19" AAXPLOSION crash and it sounds amazing
aswell as some Z customs and A custom but I prefer Sabian
so I'm still on the hunt.....I will keep you all updated on how my kit is progressing
cheers once again |
