Its really based on what's comfortable for you and your technique but obviously too loose doesn't bounce the pedals back into position quick enough and too tight makes it feel too stiff as you first press down on the pedals.

I play metal and I prefer medium tight - Just about two turns tighter than medium tension.

At that tension it feels loose when I press down but bounces back quickly to help my speed.

some people like them loose, and some go as far as buying heavier springs to make them tighter. sit down and mess around with them and find the most comfortable setting for general playing. with double bass, it's important that you pay close attention and get the spring tensions on both pedals as close together as possible, or else you may run into problems with one pedal lagging behind the other or just being annoyingly different.

yea, ive heard the the intruders kind of lag, so you may have to make it looser or tighter on the left foot then the right

Usually when they lag, it's because one leg is stronger than the other, unless one of the pedals is looser or tighter than the other.

Yah I`ve heard all doubles lag in varying ways, it`s inherant due to the fact that you are moveing a lot more mass with the slave.
I also have the intruderII, it lags no more than my eliminator, and as I progress in the double pedal thingy, it`s all technique and adjustment.
I`ve already readjusted the slave as I improve on it`s use.
Cheers

o, i just heard that the gibralter pedals slave is heavy so it lags, my eliminators dont lag at all, so i thought that id just state that, but if its your legs, then you need to practice more Smile

ideally, you want to be able to play clean and fast with as little effort as possible. i would find the spring setting thats actually comfortable for you to play, as opposed to what you feel is the fastest or will make you stronger. most drumming techniques really just require that you get your muscles coordinated so they'll do what you want when you want, and in no way rely on brute strength.
