My band has been invited to play a huge festival in Providence, Rhode Island. The promoter is going to take care of everything for us, and we know a few other bands playing....so equipment wont be an issue either. We just need to get there, and the rest is gravy.
Here are the details:

Depart from - LAX or LGB (Orange County, Ca)
Destination - PVD (Providence, RI)

We'd need to leave here anytime after 7pm on Aug 8th
We'd need to return here in the morning of Aug 11th

Any info would be fantastic. I'm seeing round trip flights for around $350-ish.
I'll keep ya'll posted on the festival as we hear more. We play Sunday, Aug 10th as far as I know.

Good deal, Captor. If I wasn't smack dab in the middle of the Midwest, I'd check out the show. It sounds like a great opportunity to get some east coast recognition, though. All the best.

i grew up between Boston and Providence so maybe I can shed a little light.

Best bet is definitly flying into PVD, as it's about 4 miles south of the city and very easily accessible.

Boston Logan has far more flight arrivals and departures, which would aid in getting the times you want for the price. (which btw, 350-400 round trip is the MINIMUM you'll pay unless you're getting discounted)

As far as providence, there's a decent heavy metal scene. Alot of kids like the hardcore, death metal stuff. \

I played the clubs in PVD over the past 6-8 years, mostly rock clubs and overall it's nothing compared to Boston both paywise and interest in live music.

Loads of bars in Central Falls RI (neighborhood of Providence) - I believe 173 total, the most watering holes per square mile in the U.S. Razz

Fantastic! Thanks brotha! That is most definitely a reassuring thing to hear (the bar part). ahahaha. I'm tempted to try and extend our trip so I can enjoy the area a little longer.

Captor, I'm about an hour from Providence, so if you want to meet up, let me know. I'll see what I can do about checking out the show!

I wouldn't fly into Boston. It's such a pain to get out of that city. You'll hit traffic EVERYWHERE on the way down. Does Providence NOT have it's own airport? If not, then I'd recommend Hartford instead. It's farther away, but you won't have all the big city Boston issues.

I have to disagree here. Logan traffic is no more with the road work over the past 5 years. You know, the big dig? Logan is actually a breeze to get in and out of now. traffic all the way down? he's arriving Friday night after midnight supposably, there's no traffic at that time of night.

Again he mentioned needing certain flight times (late fri, early monday). PVD and HFD don't have very flexible airlines and schedules like an airport like Logan (or even LGA/JFK)

I didn't see the midnight portion, but my experience with boston traffic on weekend nights has not been pleasant. It probably wouldn't be TOO hard now to pick up 95 down, but my experiences with Logan lead me to suggest staying away from it and flying into providence as a first thought.

That'd be great, I'll keep you posted Styles. As I hear more, I may be able to get you on our guest-list for the festival.

I also just got word that transportation will be provided for us in Providence, which is great!

Still working with everyone to see where we stand and what's going to take place, so I'm still in the dark on a few things. Hopefully everything solidifies soon, I'm getting a little worried here. Aug 8th ain't that far away!

Thanks again for the info everyone!

When was the last time you flew in/out of Logan?
