Bands you like better live

What are some band you like better live then the studio,
it doesnt really matter if your talking about a good youtube video youve seen(not that its the best way, but itd be better to bring more people/band into this)

me i think,
Avenged Sevenfold, they seem to throw some of the best shows ive seen in a while, never heard anyone say they threw a bad show.
Rammstein, they just look crazy live
Atreyu, vocals are great, and guitars are top notch, and the bassist is wild.
Bullet for my Valentine, screams are alot better live, vocals, when he is on he is amazing, and Moose is good live and his micing is really good.
bands that dont look to good live,
shadows fall, love the band but the vocals fall apart a bit live, and jason, falls a bit off sometimes and gets tired with his bass drum.
off the top of my head i cant think of any more right now

I saw Shadows Fall live a few years back and they tore it up. The last song included vocals from Slipknot's and Lamb of God's singers.

Though I'm not sure I've seen a band that was so much better live than recordings except for maybe bands that have huge productions like Rob Zombie and Rammstein. You can't go wrong with their recorded works but come on, Zombie has go go dancers and giant robots sword fighting. Rammstein has enough pyro to blow up up half the U.S.

I have seen some bands though that I liked until I saw them live. Back in like 6th when Disturbed came on the scene I was super into them and they came here. I went to the show (stood in line for two hours in shorts in the middle of a CNY winter) and wanted to vomit. Their singer did nothing but crotch thrust and grind on the speakers to a crowd of 95% males.

sometimes i´ll see a support act i like live, but then when i listen to their studio recordings when i get home i am unimpressed. this has happened with in this moment, murder one and bring me the horizon, among others

John Fogerty.

I've never seen an old guy tear it up and play with passion that he did a couple years back. It brought whole new meaning to his work and CCR.

I think most ska bands are better live, because they can project a lot more energy to the audience and ska music is a happy, energetic genre.

Red Hot Chili Peppers are incredible live, as well as the Foo Fighters, and I'm not even a huge FF fan, they were just opening for Bob Dylan.

The Mars Volta however.....were definately NOT better live. Linkin Park also blow live.

I've never seen Green Day, but I would give my left nut to have been at Woodstock 94 (?) during their set.

yea, my brother went to LP at project last year, and said they through a good show but their mucianship was bad. he trys to act hardcore and scream, which he sounds like a boy before puberty struck and voice didnt drop, and im not the fan they play with a track behind them.

Mars Volta met a chorus of boo's when I saw them. They were god awful. Chilli Peppers were fantastic that night though.

vanhalen, when they came here i heard they werent very intergetic or anything, but nows eddies fine so hopyfully they put on mor of a show

Most opening acts, I've only seen a handful of good openers.

STP ( Depending on Scott Weiland's drug intake. low=good, high =bad)

STP is like Escape the fate now, or i guess before the singer left, when ronnie wasnt high as a kite he would do good, but if he shot up before, he'd let the crowd sing 7/8 of the song and just walked around and sounded terrible

This actually prompted another question in my head:

A band can sacrifice sound quality to put on an extremely energetic and entertaining show.....GG Allin is a perfect example.
Any song from "Brutality and Bloodshed for All" sounds fairly decent on recording.....but live is a completely different story. Anyone who is familiar with GG Allin's live performance would agree, basically nothing coming from the P.A. at a concert sounds good.........yet these were legendary shows that many many people will never forget and continue to watch videos of each day on Youtube.

So the question is..........what, IN YOUR OPINION, signifies a "good" live show?
