Which should I use?
16 strand or 20 strand snares? Why?

Hmm...I personally don't really feel a real big difference from the 16 strand snares to the 20. The 20 might seem to have more resonance, it might seem to vibrate a little more, but I'm not too sure.

The difference really comes in the different kinds of snares, the different placement of the snare wires, what the snares are made of, etc. There is a lot more to take into consideration than just how many wires there are for your sound. And between those two, I don't think there would be much difference.

What kind of sound are you looking to achieve? What kind of snares are you looking at?
