Hi everyone,i have an old pearl export 5 piece standard kit with Sabian B8 cymbals.I want to upgrade from this beginners set and was thinking of sabian
aa or sabian aax. I was wondering what others thought of these sets and what was the difference between them.I like to play all sorts of music.
Any opinions from owners of these cymbals would be appreciated, either positive or negative,no problem.Cheers |

| Quote: | | AA is all about classic sounds. Rock. Funk. Jazz. Blues... It's about tradition, about what made history. And it's about making history again. Bright, explosive energy, the vintage bright sound for today. |
summary: AA are versatile cymbals that can be used in virtually any setting. by "vintage" they don't mean these are old, delicate cymbals but that they are time tested models that simply haven't changed for decades.
| Quote: | | With its 'Dynamic Focus' design ensuring total response accuracy and modern bright, shimmering sounds at all volume levels, AAX gives you control in any style of music. Touch it... thrash it. Only AAX delivers such consistently crisp, clear responses. |
summary: think of AAX as AA's younger, more modern brother. These cymbals have similar versatility, but the cymbals in the AAX line tend to be more bright, powerful, and complex.
that being said, if you're buying professional level cymbals, then don't just decide on one brand/line and only buy those, and definitely don't buy a prepackaged set of cymbals. go shop around for what sounds good to you. don't have your purchases made in your head before you actually play a cymbal, and don't worry about what other people think. _________________

Both types are great pro cymbals. I have a preference to the more modern bright sound of AAX, but I suggest trying out both as well as Sabian's other ranges in a shop if you can. _________________ Drumming for three years

| I have a few of both. Those lines are my favorite from Sabian. I don't think you can go wrong with either one. But remember there's something Like 40 or 50 different brands of cymbals available today so let your ears decide( financial constraints also a factor). Unless your mind is totally set on Sabian there's a lot to choose from. T |
