The on line store Sigler Music is offering a Gretsch Catalina Maple kit in a Honey Amber Transparent finish. http://www.siglermusic.com/. This finish is not offered on the Gretsch site and I was wondering if anyone has ordered this kit in this finish? If so how does the kit look and sound? I also see in the photos they are using the standard Tom Mount platform found on the earlier Catalina Birch series kits. I own the Birch kit series and find this tom mount to be one of the very best available. This is different than any of the others Catalina Maple kits I have seen. It is also pictured with the older type floor tom leg mount casings, not the hinged type.

Again, anyone have any experience or information on this specific kit, its finish, and hardware style? If it is the real deal I might be interested in giving this kit a try. Of the four finishes they offer it is the one I would choose.

What? You bored with the SONOR's already?

I'm out gigging with mine currently. Smile

Also, I just tried the link and it didn't work.

Are you kidding? I love the Sonors but I saw this ad and it intrigued me. The 3007’s are the best bag for the buck out there. Buying another kit makes me sound like this guy I know … Guess Who?

Back to the Sonors, I’m glad you are using yours on your gigs; you have so many choices with your arsenal. Yep, still loving mine.

Try this http://www.siglermusic.com/

This is what Gretsch had to say about this kit.

Hello Mr. Ritter,

Thanks for your question and for your continued support for Gretsch drums. The Catalina Maple kit you are referring to is a limited edition set that has been available since the end of last year. You are correct about the hardware differences, it does have the Gretsch branded BD tom plate (GS-4945) and Gretsch branded ball-and-socket tom mount (GTH-DL). The tom mount brackets and FT leg brackets are what we call GS-9020, which are different from the standard hinged bracket available on our standard Catalina Maple set, and have an internal eyebolt fastener.

The Catalina Maple kit you saw on Sigler's site comes in two colors - Honey Amber and Deep Cherry Red. The shells are all maple and, we have received many accolades on this kit's sound/performance.

Thanks again for your continued interest and support of Gretsch drums.

Best regards,
Gretsch drums
