Ok I am in the market looking to purchase a new kit. Right now, I play a Pearl Masters Custom MLX kit from the 92. This kit is great I love the sound but the rack tom is to big( 13x11). So I have looked into a few companies and I have narrowed it down to these three series. I am working with a budget of $1500-$1700. I am looking for a kit with hardware and these sizes

BD- 20x16 (20x18 would be awesome)
RT- 12x9
FT- 16x16
Snare drum is whatever because I have a free floater that I love and would just use that.

The series I am looking at are....
Taye Studio Maple
Sonor Force 3005
Sonor Special Edition

I am open to any brand and I like both birch and maple kits or even a mix. I am looking for some advice. This kit is going to be my gigging kit and so it needs to be able to be used alot my Pearl is going to stay in my basement as a practice kit.

No, I just have never thought about it. Most of my favorite use Pearl Reference, Ayotte, and Truth. I read somethings on here but I mean I never thought about it.

So the Special Edition would be worth it or is this kit along the level of the new VBX series? Anyone have any thoughts on the Mapex M Birch series?

I have the SONOR 3007 stage 3 maple kit and it sounds so good!

Best of the bunch of what you have described in this thread.

Here's a pix of mine.

After putting Coated Ambassadors, they just are amazing.

the special edition kits are the same as force 3007, its just the finish that is limited
