Hey everyone.

I'm going to be asking for a double bass pedal for Christmas.

The absolute most it could cost is about $250, but I'm thinking in the $100-$150 range.

I've been looking at a Pearl P122TW.
Is that a good choice?

Things to consider:
I want it to LAST
I play metalcore
I do heel-toe

I want it to cost the least amount possible, but if $50 is going to make a world of difference, I would be okay with it being more.

So basically for my price range and use I want the highest quality and longest lasting and best playing. (Not needy, eh?)

What should I go for?

Check out the Gibraltar pedals too. They're more inexpensive and just as good as other pedals.

The P122TW is a great set of pedals for the money. Good choice.

I was running PDP's double pedal when I had my acoustic set...It was pretty smooth and definitely in your price range. If you can do better though I would, but it did take a beating and hold it's own.

So it sounds like the Pearl's are okay and I don't need to spend more?

Nope. Excellent pedal. Whoever told you that was wrong. I Mine is excellent and came with a recommendation from a well-known drum store owner here in my state.

One thing among many oft looked over aspects of a truly impressive pedal is the hinge at the heel of the foot. Has it gotten any amount of play since you've had it?

Try them out if you can, but even if you can't, that's a good pedal.

As for the Gibraltars, I used to have an early version they put out. It did have a sluggish slave pedal, but they've made BIG strides in the past 10 years or so. Nothing wrong with Gibraltars these days, as far as I can tell.

A while back I broke down and spent 275$ reluctantly on an intruder(lastest version) direct drive, wasn`t too impressed with it at first, but after playing and adjusting, and playing some more, it`s finally broke in, absolutely awesome, even my buddy whole plays with the dw9002(professional gigger and session player), said there`s not much difference between the 2, maybe a slight bit more lag on the slave, to say the least, he was impressed!!
Thanx Styles for suggesting it. Very Happy
