Hey everybody. My venerable and (sort of) beloved drum throne just broke and I'm going to get a new one asap. I haven't had a chance to test any out, but I was wondering if anyone here has a preferred company or type...Any help would be appreciated |

To me a throne is merely something to sit on. I don't care what brand, size, shape, or anything. As long as it works. I have a Dixon Round one, a lower end throne, but it does the trick. But when i recently went cymbal shopping there was a couple newer looking thrones that I saw, and since someone was trying out cymbals in the sounfproof room already, which meant I couldn't, I decided to sit on some lol. So there were about 3 that I tried, A pork pie, A Tama, and a Gibraltar. The pork pie, was round, thick cushioning, and comfy, the tama had a nice back and was pretty comfy, but the best one was the Gibraltar. MAN, it was SO NICE. Red cushions, a back, saddle shaped seat, it was great. The back was adjustable, it could go in and out, up and down, woooh. The height was adjustasble so easy. No screws or anything, just a lever that you pulled and you glided down. Though it was expensive, I'd say it's worth it. GIBRALTAR ALL THE WAY _________________ Live To Drum, Drum To Live |

There are three things you are going to want to look for in a throne:
1. Comfortabilty
2. Adjustibility
3. Durability |

i got this huge *Horse's Patoot* motercycle seat for like $50 its so comftorable. just remember if you play double bass, get a throne that either has a back, or kinda leans forward, because once you pick up both heels to play, all you're weight goes to your butt instead of being supported by your feet too. just remember that _________________

| I'm leaning towards getting that too. I'll have to try it when I'm next at the store. |

I am hopeful that a Roc-n-Soc will be my next throne, as well. They're the Cadillac of thrones. |

Yeah, I'm getting a Roc-N-Soc soon. I sat in one and instantly fell in love. The throne is something most drummers probably don't think much about, but once you sit on a Roc-N-Soc, you'll start noticing how uncomfortable YOUR throne is.
EDIT:
Don't try it unless you plan to buy it |

Hmmm... I wrote a very detailed disertation on thrones on Wednesday, and it (and many of my posts from Wed & Thurs) are now gone. Anyone know what it going on? Just curious... _________________ Let that snare drum ring! |

yes, in fact, I think I remember you and I answered each other, and bytor with a couple of nice posts, and >poof< now they're gone!
I wonder if it was something I said?
I remember joking with bytor that I shoveled my driveway using Moeller technique, but no matter where I placed the fulcrum, I couldn't get good bounce of the shovel off the frozen asphalt!
and I remember posting some funny drummer jokes, like
"How many drummers does it take to shovel a driveway?"
Answer: 7.
One to shovel, and 6 other drummers to talk about how much nicer their shovels are, how weak the shoveler's left hand was, how much faster they can shovel, how much better Steve Gadd would have shovelled, etc. _________________ Let that snare drum ring! |
