does anyone else have one of these? i just got mine, and i have heard that it is one of the best begginner sets you can get. of course, they all say they are the best, but it seems to be a pretty nice kit. the snare is wonderful. i expected it to be a cheap steal snare, but my kit came with the wooden one.

Every time I've played a Pacific, I've usually been horridly dissatasfied, but then again, the stock heads on those things are dreadful. When I play one with decent heads, I'll be able to give you a better opinion. Me personally, I like the Premiers.

my impression of pacific drums is that they're geard towards the younger generation and therefore, the sound might not be as "defined" but they represent liveliness and energy.

I would love to get one though...
I told myself that my next kit will be a pacific if I can't afford any other maple kit.

Yea, just got a Pacific CX set a few weeks ago..sounds great!
All maple, nice hardware, like the double pedal and the finish
(blue onyx wrap) looks really nice! I put an Aquarian SK2 on the
bass and Aquarian Performance 2's on the toms and they sound
really nice. For 649.00 it is an awesome deal!

hey!

you've got the same exact heads as I do...
i've put the SKII on bass and performance II on toms...

I got a classic clear heard though on my snare...all aquarians...they're awesome!

the difference is, i have a yamaha YD and it's not as good as the pacific.

I heard one in the the store and they really nice for their price...can match up to the big boys

If you put some nice heads on your Pacific kit, like remo pin stripe tom heads, and perhaps an aquarian single coated on your snare, and properly tune them, the pacific kit will sound really good. It is easily the best "low end" kit you buy.

^that's what i'm going to do with my pacific. actually though, the snare kit has a really nice head on it, i was suprised. the rest of the heads are crappy though. and the cymbals are really bad. but i'm going to use them to learn on.

Ive got a pacific set and like it and yes I agree the stock heads suck A$$ but since this is my first kit Im just gonna use them until they wear out and then buy some remo's or something better.

The guy that I bought my set from said that kits were realy good except for the hardware ie the stands and pedals and he also said the heads sucked

it's not a beginner kit, beginner kit's are those cheap nasty ones which are like £250 with a pack of solar's or something crap.

put some new heads on em, tune em right - hey presto you got the best mid line kit available.

i have a pacific as well, i bought mine when they first come out
i believe before the cx lx all that $500
the snare was the worst piece of *Poop* ever
but i picked up a nice tama snare for $60 that is still one of the loudest snares ive ever heard.
looking at the hardware on mine and the hardware on the newer pacifics i think they really have gone downhill.
i think im gunna save up some money and let dave conaway build me a kit
