I need some cymbals. I play in a punk band and an acoustic band. I need these cymbals to work for both. I am only 16 and have a limited budget and no way to get more before next summer. Both bands gig so I need them now. Should I get Sabian B8's, paiste 502's, or zildjian sbt4 pro cymbals? Thanx in advance.

i had sabian b8's... and i didn't like them that much. the b8 pros are ok... and i think the zildjian zbt's are all right too... don't know much about paiste, though. i bought a used ride and returned it once. but if you do decide to get b8's, let me know! you want to buy mine?!

How much for the B8's? Which sizes do you have?

If I were you I'd buy used professional cymbals. They're ussually still in good shape. I used to have paiste, they began to hurt my ears. But the 16" crash is ok. De Zildjian's ride's are also good cymbals, but don't buy hihats or crashes from that zildjian serie. They break very easily. So go for the B8's or see if you can find used A or B class cymbals.

Hey, thanx for the reply, but I chose a saluda cymbals setup, not only for the price, but for the sound. They are awesome.

A Zildjian is what you want.
They'll last if you play with some finesse

Just quickly, DrumMaster, are you wearing hearing protection, and if so, how much?

I personally don't really like the ZBT line that much (I despise my 13" hihats and 18" crash/ride), but I highly recommend you check out the ZXT cymbals from Zildjian. They really give some of the B8 bronze cymbals a run for the money, in my opinion. Paiste also makes a decent cymbal in my opinion.

I've found that the low end Sabians have this ring in a certain frequency that I don't particularly care for, but if their sound is your cup of tea, go for it. In general, though, Paiste, Zildjian, or Sabian will probably do the job.
Good luck man, and let your ears be your guide!
