All three of those brands are top quality. I don't know what price differences you have in your country, but in general... in order of the least expensive to the most costly here in the US... .
Sabian
Zildjian
Paiste
The true way to decide is to set a monitary limit for yourself, then listen to all your dealer has in that limitation... then buy the one that "sounds" best to your ear. Warning: Cymbals will not sound the same at home as they do in the dealers' room.
Good Luck,
Wes |

Phoenix,
I'm not familiar with Sabian "solar" cymbals.
Their website doesn't mention them either.
Can't help you there...

hi,
just wanted to say that, i've have some good ziljian avedis cymbals and they're doing pretty darn good for me. always sound good, inexpensive (in the us atleast) and well made. i'd say go with ziljian. either k series or avedis series. |

Don't go by brand name, go by sound. While a name brand like Zildjian makes some nice stuff, you can still end up with a piece of junk if you're not careful. Also, make sure that if you're going to invest money in cymbals, you make it a quality investment. Really take your time in picking them. Hell, when I was searching for a ride, I spent 2 hours on 3 rides. THREE. And I didn't even end up purchasing one. It's much better than dropping $200 on something and have it not be what you want.
As for the Sabian Solar series, I'll just leave it that I was not impressed to say the least. |

I'm with Saurencaerthai, as far as go for the sound. Consider what music you will be playing. What's the intensity? Does it have to cut through blazing guitars or accent the jazz ensemble? Then go out and tap the bells, surface and edge. Then smack it like ya mean it. Doing that I found a small assortment of Zildians along with a Sabian 16" B8 med crash. I like Paiste Splash the best. Zildian crash, hats, and rides.

Hey man,
I had some Sabain Solars for a while. They are bog standard Bronze sheet pressed cymbals. They sound exactly the same as all bog standard Bronze cymbals.
I really really recomend saving up the bit more money to get a set of Zildjian ZBT cymbals, as they are much much better cymbals for only a bit more expensive.
If you really cant afford it, then just get some unbranded bronze cymbals, as they will sound exactly the same as the Solars. |

I would tend to go with Zildjian for rides and hihats (I play A Zildjian New Beat HiHats and an A Zildjian Ping Ride and a Paiste 2002 Flat Ride), but definitely Sabian Crashes. I'm a AAX fan myself

Don't bother with ZBT's and Solars
Go for the real stuff and you'll be much happier.
Plus, you can always sell them later

"Don't go by brand name, go by sound."
My friend Saurencaerthai is right on here. Unless you have an endorsement and get free or discounted stuff, who cares what the stamp says! It's all about the sound! Smack a few and pick the ones you like and keep in mind they'll sound a bit different outside or in a another room. Ask your dealer if they have a studio or practice room that you can take them to and play them a little. After you polish off the stamping, nobody's going to be able to tell what brand they are anyway!
