i recently cracked a 19" zildjian z custom medium crash. the cymbal is a few months over the one-year warranty date, but i would like to see if i could acquire some kinda reimbursement (if not a replacement cymbal) such as an in-store credit, os something of the sort.
my question is, who should i contact and how? should i try and call long distance to massachussetts and talk to a zildjian sales rep? there's no email address to speak of... i am considering emailing moder drummer magazine in hopes of a resolution.
any ideas or similar stories you'd like to share?

sheik, good luck getting the guys at your nearest music store to help you. I broke a 16" Z customs crash and neither Zildjian or my nearest MARS music could help me since I was over the warranty. But you do have a few options. 1]sell the damned thing to a begginer for cheap, cut your losses and move on 2]drill holes in the cymbal to the left and right of the crack at the farthest points you can see. this will stop the cracking any further, and eventually your cymbal will stop making that horrible sizzle sound that broken cymbals do. this is becuase the metal that touches creating that sound will eventually wear down due to the flex of the cymbal. 3]dont tell zildjian your year is up, and if they fall for it, you are a lucky man. Peace.

i ve cut a few cymbals too...but they always lose their tonality,,,,

check whether the one year warranty was for the store or zildjian...chances are the supplier warranty may last longer
