Got a new drumkit recently! It's an Ayotte Custom kit in a dark red finish (can see woodgrain). The kit includes:

12" Rack Tom
14" Rack Tom
16" Floor Tom
20" Kick Drum

Here are some pics:

I love Ayotte kits. If I ever get a custom kit their building it. Good freind of mine has been playing them for years Ive always loved the look and sound. Just nobody in the states has heard of them. I hope more people look into this little Canadian company who's drums are on par with DW's.

Nobody in the states has heard of them? I thought they were pretty popular, high-end kits. Plenty of people in the states know about Ayotte. It's just that there is so much competition among drum companies these days that it's hard for any particular one to get ahead.

BTW, if I wanted a high-end Canadian kit, I expect I would get an Epek. Assuming you're Canadian yourself, you must know about that company. They make beautiful drums.

I was refering to the fact that all you ever see is DW. Epeks are nice but I like the hoops and the tension rods on Ayottes better. Do you remember in the 90's a company called Canwood? Beautiful handmade drums, but they went out of business I think.

Yep, I remember them. Haven't seen a Canwood in ages, though. It does puzzle me that you see so many DW kits when there are SO many awesome custom companies out there. I guess it just comes down to availability. After all, Guitar Centers are all over the place in the states, and they make it pretty easy for kids with money to walk in and buy a DW kit like their drum heroes are playing. That's not to say DWs aren't nice because they certainly are. There's a ton of other nice kits out there, though, that you never hear much about.

It all comes down to endorsments. You see your hero playing brand X and you'll likely want to play the same thing.
