hi,

i was just wondering how feasible it is to actually buy a kit one piece at a time.
Since, the toms are mounted hanging from any cymbal stand, it would be an easy upgrade.

However, I'm concerned regarding the color of the drums.
Do all drums that have, say "midnight blue", will fit in with other midnight blue? For instance, if i were to buy a midnight blue on monday, and another one next year, will there be a difference?

I know that kits that are produced as a set has more coordination in terms of texture and color for that specific kit.

whatdya guys think?

There could be slight variations in color. I added a tom to my kit about six months after I bought it and I can't see any difference, but you never know. Also, it will cost you substantially more in the long run if you buy a kit piece by piece.

I could understand a slight variation but nothing noticably different. Also too age and light exposure will have an effect on the finish. So if you're taling about waiting like 5 years before getting another drum to add then yeah, there should be a diference.

I say order the kit at one time, it'll take about 6 months but it should be well worth it.

Buying the kit at one time would cost too much money...

I was thinking of like upgrading with a strong stand or use my curent stand and all i have to buy is the starclassic tom clamp and the toms...8 x 10

I found out that buying it by piece cost the same as if u buy the entire thing...they've just done the work for you, but I might as well configure it myself.

As long as the color is still available by the manufacturer the color will remain consistant. Contact the maker of the kit you want to peice and find out how long a specific color will remain in production. Its of course more consistant with higher quality drums. Wraps will always remain but paint finishes could loose their "Style" and not be available.
