| Pearl is not really my brand of choice, but I have heard some good things about that particular drum. The price is very reasonable, as well. |

ive also heard good things about that snare, i havent played it in person though so i cant offer any personal insight, i suggest running up to the nearest guitar center, im guessing they will have one out on display. _________________ Capitalism is where man exploits man, Communism is the other way around. |

i personally would put a bit more $ than 199.99 into a snare, at least if its going to be one that you really want to stick with.
as far as that particular snare, i have not heard it, but at that price if it's anything reasonably quality from Pearl then its probably not bad. of course thats just speculation |

| I own a chad smith sig. snaredrum and Im very pleased with it. I think it's more of a funk snaredrum but it sounds great. Im not sure if it's good for metal because it sounds a bit trashy with lots of overtones when not muffled. I use it with my punkrock band sometimes, altough my main snare is a dw collectors. I'd recommend you go to a shop and test some snares, don't buy anything you haven't heard and played. |

I have the chad smith snare drum. i think its class its a really good snare. The snare latch is so easy to open and close and the snares are easily tensioned to the level you want it to be. |

I've played around with one a couple of months back at a music store, it's a good snare, good crack and sustain. I found it a little too ringy at times...but besides that, good choice. _________________ "Your heart understands what your head cannot yet conceive; trust your heart." |

Actually, Chad Smith has never used his own Signature Snaredrum on any record. He always used Ludwigs as far as I know. The only time he played his own Sig. Snare was at a Drumclinic and he was quite surprised about the sound it made |

i'm having mixed feelings about this snare. i found one at Sam Ash and tried it out, but that really doesnt tell me how it will sound while playing with the band. i'm in a "deathmetal" band, tons of double kick, blast beats, and hyperblasts...and based off what i've heard from you guys, its not quite what i'm after. i'm def open for suggestions. thanks again. _________________ Candy - taste like chicken, if chicken was a candy. |

| Check out the Mapex Black Panthers. They're absolutely gorgeous. Yeah, they'll be pricier than the Chad Smith, but for what you're getting, the Black Panthers are quite reasonably priced. |
