Hello all,
Ive been looking for a great great drumstick and am having troubles finding it, i like sticks that are very long, pretty skinny, usually a 7A kind of style but i hate how most 7As are really short. Ive been using the peter erskine model from vic firth for a while and while i think theyre nice i still feel like im not using the best stick for "dan" yet, any suggestions on a long, light weight, yet durable stick. PS: wood tips, nothing else

VIC FIRTH:
8D L=16", Dia.=.540"
Like the 7A, with a bit more reach.

Extreme 5A L=16 1/2", Dia.=.580"
For the 5A player who wants more power and reach.

1A L=16 13/16", Dia.=.580"
Extra long with a "Taj Mahal" tip. Powerful, fast and responsive.

i like that 8d one, but i would like a bit longer, i just hate sticks that are anything thicker than ridiculously skinny. I just fancy skinny sticks i suppose.

I recently ordered three pairs of the Vic Firth American Sound 8Ds, and I am very pleased with them. They are indeed 16" long, so you may be looking for something a little longer, but I am extremely pleased with their durability for such a thin stick. Most impressive. I also love the round, wood tips -- outstanding cymbal articulation for a wood tip. Here's a pic from their page:
