Cool solo Drumgod, I found it entertaining. Yet I think you should lay of the cymbals more. I think you use them wayyy too much. Just my opinion though. Even Virgil Donati - a cymbal FREAK, knows when to hold back from crushing on them. Otherwise, Carter Beauford beatz all the way! lol. Good solo. Smile

Oh and another thing I think it's way too busy...maybe get a little more articulate during the body of it instead; and then at the end let it all loose. It's just the same premise the whole way through. You should make each part have it's own definitive sound/pattern/feel. So one would say something like, "I liked the part where he did this." Instead of having to go back and pick out 5 second blips of something cool you did.

Otherwise, I think it's entertaining - great dynamics.

yeah, i like that comment u made about some1 sayin "i like the part...", ya know...that is important. i'll concentrate on that more. i do a lot of nit picky stuff that sounds really nice, but i guess i should work on creating "sections"...kinda like what u were sayin. thanx for the feedback

Very cool, didnt get to hear the last 45 seconds or so of it cause something screwed up on my computer.

Was you using the whole kit or just the snare, bass, and a room full of cymbals JK LOL.

I would have to agree with doublestroke though, their was so much cymbals going on it was hard to hear the actuall drums, and started to all sound the same with variations in cymbal patters.

Nonetheless it was freaking awesome, but next time you might want to bring your toms to the recording studio Wink JK

HAha, yeah I noticed that little ditty too...I liked that!! But do something like that for a good while...then do like something hardcore for four bars that finishes it off...then revert back to the quiet playing...I dunno

I like to keep the intensity with my solo's by keeping the listener not expecting what to come next. I keep it soft then BUST in to something with, you know, something I just feel come through me. Keep the intensity, but keep them guessing - and hold their attention. I like to tell a story with my solo's...whether it's one I just fly in to like a bull, or one that I feel needs to be articulate and have character. Just a preference.

When you're recording a solo, pretend you are trying to impress a chick or making love to a chick. It might sound weird as hell but it brings out some sweet grooving man, I either think of something like that or I pretend I'm outside playing in a thunderstorm with rain flying in my face. Sex and weather baby, that's what it's all about.

Awesome, you should find some other musicians and make a livin as a drummer. Think about it... you enjoy doing it, you can make money doing it, and you can find a woman Razz

Yeah that was very Carter Beauford-ish. It sounded sweet. One question Drumgod.. are you mainly open handed or crosshanded...is your ride above your hi-hat like Carter's is?

nope...just a jedi-ish technique (okay, not really!) that's unorthodoxed. some people say my technique is wierd, but it helps me do things that r comfortable for me i guess. it's just a straight-forward technique i use....i need to post a video on here man!

yah...i got 1! crazy thing is, we do lot's of Dave Matthews stuff and i have to pretty much "emulate" carter cuz it's a little difficult to make those songs sound right without playin em the way carter did.

plus, i try to do gigs as a "musical prostitute"...ya know, just playin with other groups and getting paid. yeah...i'm a prostitute, i know! but i finally got a girlfriend! Laughing
