Welcome back Andy-Flag!!! Missing In Action.

I can play anything mostly, I'm starting in on latin stuff but still a beginner to it.

My favorite stuff to play is fusion. I love to play any style though, it just has to be fun to play Cool .

Yeah! I am back...and dude, (I've been taking lessons for 5 years) and we are getting into (been into) latin, and cuban stuff. The Bioal (i can't spell this stuff, and too lazy to look it up), and the toombow...that stuff is hard, but i'm getting it...

Baio and Tumbao, I think.

Steve Smith came and sat in on a jam session we have here every year during the jazz festival. At that same jam, I got to play with the great Dave Liebman... it was pretty fun. Anyway, it was a great hang, and all the local drummers came down to chill and play some tunes. Great time. Steve Smith got up at the end of the night. I was like "hmm... this should be interesting." He played like Jimmy Cobb. It was scary how close he got to Cobb's feel. I think they played "All Blues" or something. It freaked me out completely. He's an excellent mimic, he really knows the tradition.

I'm currently playing in a "pop" band (Tom Petty-ish stuff) Not what I'd rather be doing, but it's better than nothing. It's kind of forced me to re-evaluate my playing. I went in playing like I was playing for Rush, and I can't do that. Fast fills don't always work in pop music. So I've had to learn how to be creative while doing less at the same time. It's funny cause the guitarist wants me to bust out and go wild, but it really doesn't fit the music. Only a coulple songs that we do allow for that. Otherwise, it's a backbeat and simple fills for me. Although, I do search for neat syncopations that I can add to the music (within my musical talent-wise) to try and make it more interesting. But, other than that, I'm pretty well stuck.
