I am buying my 1st drum set And there is a Titan 7-peice for $505-with tax and there is a Pearl-5 peice for $650-with tax. Which one is better to buy _________________

Actually; none of the above. Check out Premier Cabria or Yamaha Stage Custom, a little more expensive but worth every extra buck. Also, Tama Rockstar stands up in well to those sets.
Although, if You're limited to the two sets You mentioned I'd have to say Pearl (I assume it's a EX or ELX set, right?). _________________ My Premier Artist Maple set! |

| I second the Cabria. I would also suggest checking out the Gretsch Catelina series. |

| I agree with Sauren and Premier Artist. If you are absolutely limited to the two you mentioned, I'd go with the Pearl, but there are better kits out there for the same money. The Premier Cabria, Tama Rockstar, Yamaha Stage Custom, and Gretsch Catalina are excellent suggestions. I would also suggest taking a look at the Mapex M Series drums. |

Mapex VX series isnt a bad start either.. I wanted a gretch so bad, but I found a used Mapex for dirt compaired to new....
I bought mine from ebay good deal too.
Any of the above kits are pretty good entry level kits... and some mid levels... for you 1st kit I would just recomend spending aro8udn 700-800 on a decient kit that wont fall to peices after a few years like most low level kits do... _________________ Mapex Mars 6 piece - Pert Paragon Cymbals |

Wow, you like the smileys eh.
And the best smiley of them all of which none knows how to make
As for which set, I would have to recomend the pearl, pearl is alot larger of a company than titan and Im pretty sure they make better quality stuff than titan as well _________________ Sometimes rude, sometimes nice - say something I dislike and pay the price |

| I'm pounding my brain inside trying to decide between three different kits I'm considering. I've been playing the same set for the past 12 years, and just want a new kit. I'm looking at a Tama Rockstar Custom, a Mapex M Pro and a Sonor 3003 or S-Class Pro. Between the three, I'd have to say I can narrow down to the Tama or Sonor, but just can't make the decision. The laquer finish on the Tama set is awesome, and they tune up so nicely. The Sonor, on the other hand, has some of the most unique hardware I've ever seen on a kit. I know that there are a lot of Tama players out there, but I hardly ever see anyone playing Sonor. Does anyone have feedback for me? I'm also looking at a Pearl maple kit in the Master Custom Series. It's just a shell pack or component purchase without the stands, but I can work around that. I'd appreciate any comments gigging drummers can throw in my direction. |

Wow, that's quite a leap! Rockstar and Mapex M is sort of mid-level, but Sonor S-Class Pro is way hi-level. You're absolutely right about Sonor though, it's not as common as Tama, Pearl or DW but I think that's solely a marketing issue. Sonor is not as big in the US as they are in Europe, and I see a lot of guys here in Europe hammering Sonor sets with big smiling grins on their faces. And yes, Sonor do really sound all that good!
Focus on the drums alone, that's my advice. Good hardware is important but put the biggest bucks where the sound comes from. I invested a big load of cash in my shells and put them on a drum rack, so I didn't look at the hardware at all when I was searching for drums. My main focus was to fit as good drums as I could find into my budget, the hardware was secondary. I'm really glad I didn't buy a set where one third of my total budget was plowed into the hardware, drums are enough expensive as it is. _________________ My Premier Artist Maple set! |

| Any of the kits you mentioned should do quite well for you. Premier Artist gives good advice. Go by the sound of the drums. It makes no difference whatsoever what drummers are endorsing what brand, imho. Just for your information, though, there are some very big names playing Sonor drums including Steve Smith, Danny Carey, Thomas Lang, Jack DeJohnette, Jeff "Tain" Watts, and Jojo Mayer, to name a few. |

~:dies in multiple ! and smiley fire:~ LOL
Anyways, yeah the swinstar looks like a nice kit, but if you could bump up your price range a little you might as well go for a rockstar, then you shouldnt need to upgrade for quite a while. _________________ Sometimes rude, sometimes nice - say something I dislike and pay the price |
