|
|
If I remeber right I read something about wood bass drum hoops having some kind of effect on the tuning or the way the drum sounded, I think it said you could tune the bass lower or something like that, Is this true?
Anyways, why I am asking is because I saw maple hoops for sale in a magazine and thought they would look neat on my kit if I painted the outside of them metallic red and left the inside natural.
So is their really any advantage or disadvantage to using them instead of the metal hoops, or I am I thinking of something else. _________________ Sometimes rude, sometimes nice - say something I dislike and pay the price |

I had wooden hoops come stock on my Bass drum with my yamaha, and yeah. I did notice that I have more of a bottom end now. My friends compliment me on my bass drum sound. _________________ Yamaha SCA

| I know it does affect sound, but I couldn't say how. Ever see someone with wooden rims on their toms? My best guess is that wood would stop the vibrations of the metal hoop in the bass drum head. |
