Well, I'm another bassist turned drummer for that added advantage. Jaco started on drums, so I might as well give it a try. Electric and double bass are still my primary instruments, and very expensive at that, so I'm looking to spend as little money on a drum set if possible. I'm looking at a five piece, good for rock (i.e. Metallica, Megadeth, Godsmack, Stone Temple Pilots, Velvet Revolver, Guns N' Roses, etc.)
I'm fairly fond of Pearl drums and was fond of Tama until I played a Rockstar set. I've heard good things about the Rockstar Fusion kit but it's a bit more than I want to spend, so I found Pearl makes the Soundcheck set, a relatively beginner set they swear sounds much better. Anyone try these yet?
What kind of set would you recommend for the aforementioned style? I'm trying to spend around $500 for everything.
Used is a possibility, I'm in north Jersey. |
