What is everyone's experience with DW's delivery time?

I have been waiting a month so far for my new FinishPly kit. It appears from a few threads that I still have a while to go. The dealer said that the hardware would come before the kit, but that also has yet to arrive. What kind of timeline can I expect for the hardware, and for the kit?

I'm looking at my order form right now. I placed the order with the dealer on the 17th of April and the dealer called up Dw on the following Monday to give them the order info. Supposedly my kit was due to leave the factory on the 6th of July and the expected delivery date is the 12th-13th. This info came directly from a Dw customer service rep whom I contacted.

My kit is a 6 piece and I chose a finish ply as well. 2-1/2 -3 months is about what you probably are looking at wait wise. I really can only tell you this based on my buying experience and not numerous ones. Hopefully this will be roughly your waiting period and not anything longer. If the dealer isnt giving you a very specific time frame then go ahead and email DW and ask them about how long you might have to wait. I got a very helpful email from them the next day with a specific date and not some vague answer like "ugh about another month and a half". I understand it's frustraing and you want what you paid for to be in your grasp. This is just logically one step in the process of you getting a kit that is made to your preference.....Hope you enjoy the kit and develop some mad profound chops with it.....

I ordered a exotic laquer and was told 8 - 10 weeks on June 1. We will see. I hope they are on time. I have outlayed some serious coin and hope they will deliver on time.

Um they probably won't be on time. If they can't crap out a wrapped kit in under 3 months then I honestly don't see how you'll get yours in that short a period of time. Hell I wish they would have just sent me the shells, wrap, and lugs and I would have knocked it out in a week. I've paid $4000 for a wrap finish kit and it's been over 3 months and I'm still not seeing what I paid my *Horse's Patoot* off for. Dw was supposed to have sent me my kit on the 6th of July and it was due arrival at the store where I ordered it from on either the 12-13. Well needless to say they just now "supposedly" shipped it out the 13th. But what can I believe now? I've been getting nothing but misinformation on my kit sincethe day I ordered it.....DW claims the kit was completed on the 2nd of july but they didnt ship it out because one of the two tom clamps I ordered wasnt in stock at the manufacturing plant. In other words they don't care if I get my kit on time because it would cost them more money to send the clamp seperately after the rest of the kit was sent to me....DW needs to get their heads on straight if they want to continue making the big bucks.....

I hope you got your kit. Sounds like that they don't have their act together. I have outlayed $8,000 for my kit and I certainly hope they don't start yanking my chain. This is too much money to be lied to.

Well, they came today!!!! I received the most awesome drum kit I've ever bought. I'm glad to report that I was told that my 7 piece dw exotic laquer curly maple would take 8-10 weeks and they came in 7 weeks.

All I can say is awesome sound. I will post pictures soon everybody. You will be impressed, it is worth the wait.

Just picked up my set last week after an 8 week wait. Dealer said 8 weeks and it was. Got Tobacco Burst Lacquer. *Holy Censor, Batman* Beautiful set.
Went a little overboard. 8,10,12,14,16 fast toms, 22 bass, and 14x5.5 snare. Definitely worth the wait.

Three things determine how quick DW kits usually come.

#1) Whether it is wrapped or Lacquer

#2) The demand for your particular finishes and sizes. Tobacco Burst takes FOREVER because of how popular it is!

#3) Whether the store ordering it currently owes money to DW. Wink

BTW, it's actually surprising me how quickly your guys' kits have been coming. Typically, I've heard 5-6 months for DW. The quickest these days is Ludwig typically. They actually stock maple component drums so it comes pretty quickly. I got one guy's kit in in two weeks. However, the Vistalites... wow don't ask. A guy called the store today and wanted a set and he needed them within 2 weeks. I told him "Yeah... well, I can call Ludwig, but I can 99% guarantee you there's no hope." The current wait on a vistalite is 20 weeks.

My Premiers were estimated to arrive in 14-16 weeks. That puts them on schedule for Mid-November. *sigh*

Sad Well, I did talk to a high up at Premier when he was at the shop and well... he might put in a good word *coughcoughmovemyorderupcoughcough* That'd freakin rock.
