Hey, I'm not sure if all oh you have heard or seen the ahead steal sticks they've been around for a while, they have metal shaft with like plastic over the handle. Supposedly they are unbreakable and will not hurt would bit. Drumemrs like Joey Jodson (slipknot) Tico Torres (Bon Jovi) Phil Rudd (AC/DC) Tommy Lee, even matallica's drummer uses them

However they are alittle expensive and the guy at my local music store says hes heard of people breaking cymbols, I was wondering if anyone here has tried them out and what they think

Personally, I say don't waste your time. My drummer played these exclusively for a few years - he broke 3 of the sticks in that time!! Granted, his playing technique is shoddy, but $45 for some sticks that feel like your playing with I-beams (they're pretty heavy and fat) that can break, and yes, damage your cymbals if you're a hard hitter, is just not worth it IMO. The sleeves weren't the easiest to change either.
Though you should've seen the look on the GC salesguy when we showed him a busted one! Shocked
For me, they were just too heavy, too unnatural feeling.

They'll turn your cymbals into garbage can lids and will be totally useless for cross sticking. Stick with sticks!
