I have a question for the savvy drum dog. Why is Slingerland drums just about if not the most expensive drums on the market? For a 24X14 bass,
13X9 tom and twin 16X16 FTs the MSRP is $6,800. And of course the RK snare comes with that. I'm speaking about the Buddy Rich setup. I asked how much the Rich name added to the price and it was a minimal $200.00 or so. What I don't get is do they have such a special process and use such incredible materials (they use maple in all their drums) such that the quality is so far beyond all other drum manufacturers to charge almost almost double what other top drum makers charge. Is Slingerland really that good? |

| Absolutely not!!! The drums they were making just before Gibson bought the factory were sweet. Since they've been gone for awhile, who knows. As far as the new lines go, I think they are charging an arm and a leg to regain the costs they lost for being out of production for some years. The craftmanship certainly does not exceed in those levels as most of the other good companies. I'd at most try to bargain down a floor set at a store taht may actually stock a kit... |

I just got off the phone with Big apple music in NYC and they were giving me a price of $5,700 for a broadway kit, which looks really sweet and i've actually heard one. I told the guy that i didn't want the snare or the hardware just the kick and two toms and he told me that it was gonna be $3,600 and i almost shat myself. I know that Eron the drummer for Hawthorne Heights(victory records) play this same exact kit and it's awesome. The only turn off is the price, if i was to spend that much i'de rather get an orange county. The only reason i wash curious of the price was that i have a vintage slingerland yellow jacket pedal and i just recently recorded with a slingerland 6 1/2 X 14 vintage metal snare and both of those pieces are awesome. Thats all. _________________ www.leahstargazing.com

If these are anything like the last batch that Slingerland/Nashville was putting out they're great. Very nice shells...their own, not Keller, like most others.
Also, the snares are the highlight....single ply shells that are incredibly expensive to make. They're trying to use the Slingerland name as well, sort of like Gretsch and charge more than the other guys....like Ludwig. For them to be charging as much or more than DW, Tama SC Maple, Pearl MC, etc....is crazy. No kit is worth that kind of money.
I'll take my green sparkle 60s Slings anyday....
later,

theyre good, but not worth that much. i think the company that bought them out is trying to recoop some of its losses by completely overpricing their kits. _________________

I saw a mini show at my school and the drummer had a slingerland...it had no sound. It sounded liek he was banging on wood. _________________ Sonor Force 2001 |
