Hi Gang,
I have triggered my acoustic drums for years and recently scored an old Simmons SDS-1000 Kit on ebay. The module has MIDI in/out, which I understand was not on all SDS-1000 modules.I bought a MIDI to USB cable and want to use the module as a trigger interface with my laptop.
My question is: What software do I need for the laptop? I have the cable drivers, but what software is needed to trigger sounds off the laptop?I see sound library discs around but are the sounds all I need? Are they wav. files? My goal is to keep it simple.I use my Alesis DM-5 live and realize it probably has more sounds than I'll ever need, but since I have all of the hardware....might as well try it out. Thanks in advance.

There are tons of software out there: GarageBand, Logic Pro, Audition, Pro Tools, Cubase, etc. They take the sound banks (which can be wav files) and associate them with the notes that come in via midi. _________________ AeonScape MySpace Music
