I'm looking to buy an electronic kit for practice, but I don't know which one to get. I've been looking at the Roland td-3 and the yamaha dtxpress 4. I've been reading good things about both kits, I just can't decide which is the better value. Any input you have would be great. Thanks!

the dtxpress has more range on the different types of drums and percussion, but the roland td 3 acts more like acoustic kits, like cymbal chokes. the roland also has better sound quality.
i would go for the roland because it acts more like an acoustic kit. and if i had the choices to gig with either kit, i would still choose the roland td-3 over the yamaha dtxpress 4.

The yamaha has cymbal chokes too, man. If the discussion was between the DTXpress III and the TD-3, i might lean towards the TD-3, but with all of the upgrades they did for the DTXpress IV, it's pretty *Holy Censor, Batman* nice.

there are 2 different versions of the dt xpress 4. 1 of them costs $1000 and the other is $1500. the td3 is $1000. i think $1000 is all he wants to spend or he would've mentioned the td6.
those prices are US dollars.

do you have a guitar center or any other music stores near you that sell both kits?
if not, then this is something that i just started doing. i've been buying speakers for live sound. since guitar center is too far away and the nearest music stores being way overpriced, i compare by just buying online, try out the speakers, send them back, buy another pair, and i'll decide to either keep what i have or send them back for what i last returned.
it's something that takes patience. i only do it if i get free shipping.
