| Could anyone tell me how these cymbals compare? The prices are pretty close, so I'm really just wondering about sound. |

it would help if you could specify which kind of aax you would like
as for sound, aax's are very good for chreshendoes(sp) and accents for getting over a band very well but are pretty dark and very metal-ish cymbals if you know what im saying
a customs are very bright and clear in alot of ways, alot of people like them because of the zildjian name but they sound alright, as for the company zildjan those are probably the only ones i would buy because some of the others i dont always seem to fit in with the music i play.
aax's to look at aaxplosion, very nice own them myself and possibly one of the star pieces of my kit
dark crash, very accented cymbal and works very well with other parts of your kit, and i love them,
studios, are very clean and bright in some ways, in alot of ways a hyrid of the zildjian a custom and a aaxplosion in my opinion, would like to get a 14' soon myself
another new one to look at is the apx's very thick symbals and dark sounding if thats what your looking for, havnt played them too much because last time i was at GC the guys werent going to give me sticks.
as for the aax's myself i love them and the dark and plosions work well together with sound and dont think ill venture too far away from those in the future
i plan/have to get
16 aaxplosion
15 dark
14 studio
17 a custom
18 apx |

As tylerdrummer said, there are actually multiple lines within the AAX unlike the A Customs where the only variation is regular, medium, fast, and projection. It's really going to be about personal preference in sound. I have some A Customs and like them alot. They produce a very bright clean clear and musical sound. The AAX and A Customs fill a similar niche for the two companies. I would get on Sabian and Zildjian's websites and listen to the sound files, or if you're lucky enough to have a music store nearby that carries them... go check them out for yourself! _________________ AeonScape MySpace Music

Fully concur. I play all A Customs (Except for chinas, which are wuhans). Excellent cymbals. But, go to a store if you can and listen to the difference yourself. If you know of artists who play each cymbals, you can listen to how they're used, as well. _________________ "One day I feel I'm on top of the world
