|
|
Heya!
I'm thinking of getting some drum sticks for someone, but I'm not sure what ones to get!
I'll probably be buying them off the internet, is it worth getting the more expensive ones?
any ideas?
help please!!
cheersx |

It's all personal preference. It depends what kind of sound you want, the thickness, weight, balance, tip, lenghth... can play many factors. I haven't had very good experiences with some of the really cheap ones. They tend to break and warp easier.

I use the ones with the red nylon tip. I like the extra reach and the sound of nylon tips. Look around and read descriptions and see if there might be someting you're looking for. |

If you're getting sticks for someone see if you can get a look at their current sticks. Note down the model numbers and either get those models or similar ones. Note especially the length, the diameter and the shape/material of the tip. Better still, if you're at liberty to do so, ask the person in question. Sticks are a very personal thing.
As for cost, as a general rule, sticks by Vater, Vic Firth, Promark and Regal Tip are of good quality, and otherwise, stick quality can be questionable. _________________ If you don't like it, you can just *Golly Gee* off! - Keith Moon's last words

hey
just as most these guys have already said.
basically it is a personal thing. like it depends what your friend likes.
your friend may already have a pecific brand he/she likes to use.
the vicfirth site is really goof, or if you were thinking more along the lines of crazy sticks or show sticks try www.drumbum.com and look at the sticks they have there!
best of luck with it all |

Why do I get the feeling he hasn't been back since he posted? lol, 1 post, sweet!
but yeah, like everyone said.... I don't even really need to say it.... personal preference.
if you really don't know the best thing would be a big heavy stick if the person is a strong dude or smaller and lighter stick if they are a smaller version of the big guy. lol, good luck _________________ ***HOOK IN MOUTH!!!***

That's a dangerous link to draw. Stick sizes and weights are dependent mainly on the style of drumming and on the technique of the player, not on the size of the player. _________________ If you don't like it, you can just *Golly Gee* off! - Keith Moon's last words

No, that's right. because drummers girls are HAWT.
Needless to say, the self esteem's a bit low- not cool. |

http://store.drumbum.com/sku-STK-25.html
LOL!!!! I'M GETTING THESE WITH THE GRADUATION MONEY I'M GETTING!!! yeah, i'm graduating high school this year.
i think you should get him/her those sticks in the link
neil peart signature sticks would be a good idea. they are the perfect stick for the perfect drummer. i use those sticks, and all the other sticks i've tried just didnt feel right compared to those.
do you know what any of his favorite drummers are? whatever drummer it is, they might have signature sticks. |
